MASTERS Institute was established in 1993 under Dr Beverly Norsworthy as a Christian Teacher preparation course for primary and intermediate teachers in state, private and integrated schools in New Zealand. MASTERS has always stood for training teachers with a transformative approach to learning based on biblical foundations.
MASTERS has a proud history of training teachers who have been involved in schools across New Zealand, and have established relationships with over sixty schools in the Auckland region.
In 2006, MASTERS Institute moved from Mt Roskill to become tenants on the Henderson Campus of Laidlaw College. In 2007 a conversation began about the possibility of merging the two colleges. There was a strong convergence of vision around training up leaders to be involved throughout all of society, and this vision shaped the conversation. It was officially agreed in March 2008 for MASTERS to become the School of Education of Laidlaw College effective from 1st January, 2009.
MASTERS wholeheartedly endorses the vision of Laidlaw College, and sees their own vision becoming one with Laidlaw College and living on. This merger has not seen the end of the MASTERS story, but rather an exciting new chapter.
