First Steps into Tertiary Study

Amy MillsAmy came to study at Laidlaw’s Manukau campus this year after finishing her schooling at Elim Christian College. Amy’s a twin, and has been a Christian most of her life, getting baptised at the age of 8. She enrolled in Laidlaw’s Certificate in Christian Studies because she wanted to understand God more deeply. And how did she find the study? “It was awesome!” She loved all her papers, and enjoyed hearing other’s views in the class discussions. Over the year she’s studied the basics of Christian belief, Discipleship and Faith in Action where she heard personal stories of how theology shapes faith in the community. And, she’s not only grown closer to God this year, but she’s succeeded in her first year of tertiary study!

Now she has her sights set on an internship programme which will help her fulfil her goal of working with children. She already helps at Kids Church each Sunday at her church, and is keen to get into children’s ministry. In the meantime, she’s enjoying Auckland’s summer and taking a break from assignments!
