Our new QSM holder!

We are delighted to hear the news that BTI (now Laidlaw) alumna May Mackey was awarded the Queen’s Service Medal this week for services to prisoners’ support.

After graduating in 1947, May ran hostels for young Maori men and women coming to Auckland to seek employment or learn trades. She became a voluntary prison visitor in 1982 and continued to visit and support prisoners for over three decades. She has featured on TVNZ’s “Good Sorts” programme and was acknowledged in 2015 with the Missional Living Award at the Christian Network Unsung Heroes Award.

It is great to see May’s faithful loving work over many years acknowledged in this way.
