Ian Waddington is a Lecturer in the Diploma in Christian Studies, specialising in New Testament, Old Testament and Beginning Theology.
He loves being able to introduce the Bible and Jesus, in all their profundity and complexity, and showing how that may make a difference in students' day to day lives. Often a huge part of that is showing students aspects of Bible background, interpretive technique and theological reflection - how to 'picture' the Bible then, so as to apply it well now.
Ian grew up in West Auckland and came from a background that included teaching, building, banking and work in the disability sector before he came to Laidlaw College in 1993. He has three boys (one of whom is autistic) and attends Massey Community Church. Ian completed a BA in English in 1985, a Diploma of Teaching in 1986, a Bachelor of Ministries in 1995, and an MTh in 2014. He has presented papers in the area of disability and spoken at Ponui for Scripture Union. He is also involved on campus with student support, health and safety and the disability reference group.
