About Olive Shoots

Our purpose-built centre is situated on the campus of Laidlaw College, Henderson, and provides care and education for the children of students undertaking courses of study at Laidlaw College, for the children of staff at Laidlaw College and for children from the wider community. We have excellent ratios and an educational curriculum that reflects our special character.



The Role

We are looking for an administratively savvy person who would like to work alongside a team of fabulous teachers. The role is part-time to start in February 2022. We are looking for someone who is available to work from 16 up to 20 hours a week. Specific days and hours of work can be negotiated with the successful applicant.

On a daily basis, you will be responsible for:

  • General office administration tasks.
  • Undertaking accounts duties such as petty cash and payroll functions.
  • Answering telephone enquiries, welcoming visitors and assisting other staff in the centre with their enquiries.
  • Managing inventory of assets and supplies
  • Supporting staff in assigned project-based work.
  • Scheduling and coordinating meetings, interviews, events and other similar activities.
  • Maintaining efficient office procedures for filing and record management.
  • Entering children’s’ details on to the APT software.
  • Running weekly and monthly reports.
  • Completing Ministry of Education reports.


Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • A strong interest in working with a large team of people and with young children.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Competency with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with APT (childcare management system) would be an advantage
  • Experience in general accounts
  • A commitment to the special character of Olive Shoots
