The Role

We are looking for a Head of Centre for Learning & Campuses to join the Laidlaw College team.

This is a new position, responsible for ensuring effective organisational functions are in place to facilitate student learning and support student wellbeing. You will manage the Centre for Learning (CFL), pastoral care and campus teams across our three campus sites (Henderson, Manukau and Christchurch). This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer and you will work closely with the Academic Dean, the Heads of Schools, and the Senior Leadership Team.

Broadly, your areas of responsibility will include:

  • Fostering a collaborative, high-trust, high-performance, high-accountability culture within and across CFL, pastoral care and campuses.
  • Leading the operational delivery of Laidlaw’s programmes, including relationship building with Laidlaw’s partners.
  • Working with our Student Services and Student Support teams to ensure that student academic and wellbeing needs are understood and met.
  • Supporting the effective running of the College’s software platforms related to teaching and learning, including our learning and student management systems.
  • Ensuring that contingency and continuity plans are in place to mitigate against disruption to Laidlaw’s operations

As the successful candidate you will have the following:

  • A demonstrated understanding of the ethos and objectives of the College, and an ability and enthusiasm for working within that framework.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate, support and manage a diverse team.
  • A capable administrator, who promotes and exemplifies excellence in the design and implementation of systems and processes.
  • Experience in identifying, analysing and solving day-to-day problems.
  • Knowledge of technology as it applies to teaching and learning, especially concerning academic innovation, learning systems and records management.
  • Awareness of MOE, NZQA and TEC accreditation policies and processes would be advantageous.
