Rowena Stevenson Student Support Christchurch Campus

Rowena is the Student Support Tutor and Library Assistant at the Christchurch Campus.

Rowena keeps the Christchurch library working when she is there, providing assistance to students, staff, subscribers and visitors as they use the library. She also supports students as they come to grips with the requirements of academic study. She works with individuals or small tutorial groups on everything from issues of time management and study planning, research and resourcing, reviewing marked assignments, shaping an academic essay. she helps unravel the favourite topic for all students:- What does this question mean? and the other favourite: - How do I reference this?"

Rowena completed a Bachelor of Theology in 2012 by which time she was already the Student Support Tutor. The challenges of student life and academic achievement are still etched in her recent memory. She loves to see students move from nervousness to competence.

Outside of Laidlaw, Rowena works part time for her local Anglican church encouraging discipleship within small groups. She writes a little and enjoys having the chance to apply her biblical studies to her work. As a founding trustee she still keeps an eye on Sonrise Christian School in Gisborne. She would still like to read almost every new book that comes into the library, get stuck into her sewing stash, and get training for her next NZ cycle trail ride, but she is more likely to be seen driving her 1937 purple hot rod - probably the cutest little car in the world.
