Dr Ryan Lang Professional Teaching Fellow School of Theology
- BA (Hons), MPhil, PhD
Ryan Lang is committed to the Church and to her growing in love for God and for the world.
Ryan was born in Pakistan, where his parents served as relief workers, and he grew up between there and Tāmaki Makaurau. He completed his undergraduate degree in Politics and English at the University of Auckland. After a season of graduate study in Auckland and Oxford and work with humanitarian communities overseas, he came home to Aotearoa in 2015 and set out on the beautiful journey that is theological education. Ryan has taught into the theology programme at Laidlaw College since 2019. He also serves as Director of the Residential Fellowship and a Senior Teaching Fellow at Venn.
Ryan’s doctoral thesis explored the song of the Church, particularly in her times of struggle. He loves conversations about faith and life, grief and hope, Scripture, prayer, and the glory of God. He is married to the lovely Ashleigh, a nurse and artist. They live under a mighty pōhutukawa tree, which they share with two friendly kōtare and a family of white-faced herons.
