Jocelyn joined the Counselling team as a lecturer in July 2023 and is based at the Henderson campus.
She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling and a Master of Arts in Practical Ministry (special focus on Family Studies) from Cincinnati Christian University in Cincinnati, Ohio. While in Cincinnati, Jocelyn practised as a counsellor in the community for about 20 years. She primarily focused on working with children and families, but more recently was working with adults with chronic medical issues and mental health issues. She was also an adjunct professor at Cincinnati Christian University and supervised counselling students, and counsellors working toward their independent counselling licence.
Her interests throughout her counselling practice has been working with children and families. She also spent a significant amount of time working with families in crisis to try to stabilize and to learn to come together. One of Jocelyn’s other special interests is working with people around the topic of grief and coming to a place of peace.
Jocelyn and her family moved to New Zealand in early June 2023. Jocelyn’s husband is the associate pastor at Shore Community church in Auckland and they have two teenage daughters. As a family they love to hike and explore the outdoors. They have never lived close to the beach so Jocelyn’s daughters are enjoying swimming in the ocean (even in the winter!). She is so excited to be in New Zealand and explore all it has to offer.
