Kia ora koutou! Ko Hugh tōku ingoa. Kua kaimahi ki te whare pukapuka ki te whare wānanga o Waitaha, mō ngā tau tekau mā toru. He kaimahi ki te whare pukapuka ki te wānanga Amorangi ināianei.

I joined the team at Laidlaw College Christchurch in October 2023, having spent about 13 years as a Library Assistant at the University of Canterbury. My role involves academic administration, student support, and library information services.

I am here to assist in the process of partnering with, and to help guide, students on their academic and spiritual journey. This journey is totally unique for each person, and I pride myself in ‘meeting people where they are’ in this journey. I am a naturally caring person with an interest in mental health and wellbeing, who loves a good conversation about life in general.

Outside of work, I am a bit of a crazy collector of New Zealand music from the 1980’s era. I probably have one of the more extensive collections of memorabilia centred on songwriting legends, the Finn brothers. Other interests include cartooning, op-shopping, internet auction site trading, cycling and kayaking.
