God and Creation

A beautiful sunrise over the dazzling horizon. A catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. A tuatara scuttling through the bush. Global warming and corporate fracking.

What does any of this have to do with following Jesus?

From the first garden of Genesis through to the cultivated city in Revelation, we encounter a God who delights in creating, revels in natural life, points to plants in poems, and declares human beings as divine image-bearers. We see how issues of land and the environment interact with oppression, grace, sin and rest – and how behind our engagement with nature lies a theological belief.

And in a world that offers myriad messages about how to relate to nature – it is vital to understand and engage with creation in a way that is faithful to the way of the Creator.

The study of God and creation will explore science, ethics, justice, culture, senses, awe and beauty – and help you live a thoughtful, caring life whether you dwell in the city, suburbs or rural lands.
