Article Publication

We were very excited to hear of Eunice’s recent success in publishing an article “Welcome to the table: A Bourdieusian take on gifted New Zealand young women” in the international journal Education Sciences.

Her article reported the results of research she has been undertaking into the identities of gifted and talented girls. Eunice explored how key concepts from the sociologist Pierre Bourdieu were helpful in conceptualising the marginalised identities of gifted and talented girls. Her exploration put forward suggestions around understanding the hierarchies of social capital that gifted and talented girls negotiate and pointed towards a more empowered framing of their identities.

Eunice is one of Laidlaw’s leading educational researchers and we are proud to have insights from her own research informing the teaching and learning programmes we offer.
